Venue & Fees
The symposium will be held at the main library of the University of South Bohemia, Branišovská 1646/31B, 370 05 České Budějovice.
The student residence where free accommodation is offered for part of the participants is just next door. For those who prefer to stay in a hotel, the closest option is Hotel Budweis, situated near the old town, within walking distance of the main square. See www.hotelbudweis.cz. This and other hotels are about 2.5 km away from the university.
The conference fee for the symposium (including 4 coffee breaks, 2 lunches and 2 dinners) will be 150 EUR.
Travel costs will have to be covered by the participants.
Travel
Fly to the Czech Republic
Prague International Airport (Letiště Václava Havla Praha) is the biggest airport in the Czech Republic and connects to more than 150 destinations worldwide. There are a number of low cost airlines flying to Prague, such as Smartwings, easyJet, and Ryanair.
Public Transport: Train or Bus
If you want to use public transport from the airport to Budweis (České Budějovice), go to the bus platform located in front of Terminal 1, which handles flights from outside the Schengen zone, and take the Airport Express (AE) to Prague Main Train Station; it leaves every 30 min and takes about 40 min. If you arrive at Terminal 2 (handling flights from within the Schengen zone) you’ll have to walk over to Terminal 1 (5 min). The bus ticket is 200 CZK. There are trains to České Budějovice about once an hour, and the travel takes about 2 hours. The train ticket costs around 200–300 CZK depending on the train and how far in advance you book.
Alternatively, from the airport you can take the bus No. 191 to the bus terminal Na Knížecí and from there the RegioJet bus in the direction of Český Krumlov. Buses leave about once an hour, and the travel to České Budějovice takes about 2 hours. Prices are similar to those of the train.
Of course, you can also take a taxi from the airport to either the train station or the bus station. The estimated fare is 800 – 1200 CZK one way. Both Uber and Bolt services are available.
In České Budějovice, you can take bus No. 3 to Jihočeská univerzita. Or take a taxi, which should be around 150 CZK.
Direct Shuttle Service
The transfer organised by us is more expensive (180 EUR here and back instead of about 40 EUR by public transport), but it will be faster (about 2 hours instead of 3 – 4) and more convenient. The driver will, however, have to wait for 2 – 3 passengers to arrive before leaving the airport, so that the advantage in terms of time might be smaller.
